I co-wrote this article for linkedin for my client because we recognized how essential reskilling and upskilling have become for employees. In today’s workplace, the ability to adapt and the courage to step outside one’s existing field are no longer optional—they are critical for survival. This was especially evident during the COVID-19 pandemic, when mass layoffs disrupted the lives of countless workers.
But reskilling and upskilling are not only vital for employees. They also benefit organizations. By investing in continuous learning, companies can minimize the risk of layoffs, retain valuable talent, and build a workforce that is agile enough to meet future challenges.
To ground this article in evidence, I drew from data released by BCG in 2019, alongside insights from MIT Sloan Management Review and TalentGuard. These sources provided a solid foundation for exploring how upskilling initiatives can create resilience both for individuals and organizations.
The response was encouraging. The article generated an organic traffic of 12,200 visits per month and was also published on Leaderonomics.com, extending its reach to a wider professional audience.
